DescriptionAbout this Learning Opportunity
Year 1 of the NJIEC registered apprenticeship program combines classroom instruction with on-the-job training, ensuring a well-rounded education that prepares apprentices for success in the electrical contracting industry. The program is structured to align with industry standards, safety regulations, and technological advancements, keeping apprentices abreast of the latest developments in the field. Objective: The course objective is to provide the student with instruction in practical aspects of electrical theory, introduction to National Electrical Code, basic wiring methods, elementary blueprint reading, instruction in use of tools, and conduit bending. Instruction will include consistent reminders of safe jobsite practices. Learning Outcomes: Upon completion of the course, the student will be able to explain and apply basic safety and first aid measures; apply the principles of basic electricity; explain and use safe techniques in working with electricity; utilize technical mathematics in computing various electrical functions; explain and develop different types of residential electrical circuits; install branch and feeder circuits; install various types of electrical outlets; use the tools and materials associated with the level of expertise; and use the National electrical code book as a reference to find relevant Code citations. National Recognition and College Credits: One of our program's distinguishing features is its utilization of a nationally recognized curriculum. Developed to meet the highest educational standards, this curriculum ensures that apprentices receive cutting-edge training that is widely respected in the electrical industry, because it is designed by industry. Additionally, completers of Year 1 may be awarded up to 10 college credits and graduates of our four-year program may be awarded up to 46 college credits through the American Council on Education
