DescriptionAbout this Learning Opportunity
DSimone Artistry’s Pre-Apprenticeship Program offers a culturally responsive, credential-based training experience that prepares participants for legal employment in salons and entry into Registered Apprenticeship Programs. Designed for underserved populations including women of color, youth, and low-income individuals, this 50-hour training is delivered in a hybrid format: hands-on instruction at DSimone Artistry salons and flexible online or in-person theory during the week. The curriculum includes state laws and regulations, sanitation, scalp and hair analysis, and a range of braiding techniques. Participants also gain soft skills in professionalism, customer service, and time management. Supportive services, and weekly coaching help ensure strong engagement and completion. Graduates earn their New Jersey Braiding License and receive continued career navigation support. The program serves as a launchpad into cosmetology careers, entrepreneurship, or further training.
