DescriptionAbout this Learning Opportunity

The Medical Assistant program prepares students to be multi-functional practitioners, thoroughly prepared to perform front office and clinical patient care duties, as well as, basic urgent care procedures. Topics covered include anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, insurance billing and coding, electronic health records, ethics, clinical procedures, aseptic technique, minor surgical procedures, universal precautions, general skills in document formatting, and EKG. This program delivers practical preparation in the healthcare environment. In addition to the technical training, a critical aspect of a Lincoln education is developing the professional skills that are required by our employers. Students will need to demonstrate skill proficiency through a series of professional development activities and seminars which are integrated into each course. The modules include Student Success, Financial Literacy, Professional Development, and Career Success. Graduates of this program may find entry-level positions as a Medical Assistant. It also provides the diversity of other settings such as doctors’ offices, hospitals, urgent care, outpatient care centers, and other medical facilities. Students will be required to complete out-of-class assignment in each course, except internship
