DescriptionAbout this Learning Opportunity
Patient Care Technician program provides students with the knowledge and skills required to work as an entry-level patient care technician. Patient Care Technician are multi-faceted members of the healthcare team who work closely with doctors, registered nurses, and other personnel delivering patient care and assuming appropriate responsibilities before, during, and after hospital stays, surgical procedures and doctor’s care. Students enrolled in this program will begin with learning various medical terminology terms, and the basic Anatomy and Physiology of the human body. They will move ahead in the program and learn Phlebotomy, and intravenous therapy skills, and EKG. In the core courses of Patient Care Technician program students will learn various Patient Care Techniques such as vital signs, patient’s safety needs, urinary and bowel needs, daily patient hygiene and bathing, oral hygiene, dressing/ undressing, meeting nutrition needs of patient, exercising and activity needs, comfort and rest needs, transferring the patient, pressure injuries, oxygen needs, emergency care, end-of-life care, taking care and needs of visual, hearing and speech difficulty patients, educating and communicating patients, and more. The Patient Care Technician program is taught using a hybrid/blended learning environment.
