DescriptionAbout this Learning Opportunity

Advance Audio Engineer is a project-based curriculum utilizing the software Pro-tools to learn how to record, edit, mix, and output the finished session. This course follows the Introductory Audio Engineer course and builds on the foundational skills and understanding students have gained with Pro Tools. Students will demonstrate the ability to confidently operate industry standard equipment, advanced methods, complex workflows and processes within a multitrack mix. Via practical exercises, students will gain the tools to capture a live-performance, then mix and master it on a professional level, using industry standard best practices and meeting all required specifications for delivery. At completion of this course, each student will leave with a completed and unique 16 track mix and master.
Students will learn how to adhere to best recording practices and confidently operate a professional recording, demonstrate skills that translate to work in a Live Venue, identify spectral details while making aesthetic decisions within a mix, properly deploy an audio system via a mic, interface, and computer, understanding the signal flow between these devices, Comprehensively understand and utilize time based operations and processes, work with Automation to create dynamic motion within a Mix, understand delivery specification requirements and appropriate terminology, implement reference tracks and advanced metering tools to match client expectations, understand and utilize advanced routing options in Pro Tools and create Multiplexer-Processing-Chains, acoustically process audio, and Create Basic Mastering-Chains for Printing Final Masters. Audio engineers can find employment with musicians and production companies, as part of their in-house audio team, creating mp3 files and supplying audio soundtracks. Many audio engineers work freelance on behalf of schools, camps and individuals.
Upon successful completion of the program, student will receive a certificate of completion. This program will be offered in an Online format with classes offered on Sundays and evenings. Classes will be recorded for reference. There may be occasional in-person classes as warranted.
