The objective of the Patient Care Technician program is to prepare an individual to enter the medical field in the capacity as a patient care technician. A PCT provides basic medical and person care to patients in a variety of health care settings. Patient Care Technicians may work in hospitals, nursing homes, and home health services. The PCT works under the guidance of a registered nurse and may perform the following duties: check vital signs, assist with patient hygiene, assist with collection of specimens, transports the patient in a clinical setting, and assists with feeding the patient.
