DescriptionAbout this Learning Opportunity
This program prepares students to assist physicians and nurses by providing basic and advanced clinical duties in a medical environment and covers subjects such as anatomy and physiology, medical law and ethics, medical communication, medical records, patient preparation, medical terminology, and basic laboratory procedures and tests. The program objectives include explaining basic patient care duties including activities of daily living (ADLs), distinguish between assisting with patient movement including bed and wheelchair transfers and lifts, and use of assisted devices, and demonstrate skills related to phlebotomy and electrocardiography. Upon successful completion of this program, students will have met the training requirements to sit for the Certified Patient Care Technician (CPCT) exam which is sponsored by the National Healthcareer Association (NHA).
