Goodwill Industries of Southern New Jersey and Philadelphia
Consumer report card
DescriptionAbout this Learning Opportunity
Our comprehensive Computer Skills Program will prepare students to support positions in a wide variety of office environments. Students will enter the program and will begin the course on a level that will help them to begin comprehending properly. The class is not taught by the instructor collectively. Everyone is taught on an individual basis (like a laboratory environment) and is not asked to keep up with each other due to the facts that class is open enrollment and that each person is working on different levels when they enter the class. We find that this takes away the anxiety of keeping up with the rest of the class in case they need more individualized attention, producing more work efficiency. All students work from the same textbook that is approved Microsoft Certification coursework, unless there is a cognitive problem that we have to accommodate with a book of a different level. Students will gain working knowledge of various computer applications including, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. They will also learn to operate a personal computer and become familiar with the Microsoft Windows environment and have the opportunity to take the Microsoft Certification testing for each subject that is completed; Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. This is provided on the Core and Expert Level, according to the skills level of the individual (payment for testing is provided by individual funding source). Upon successful completion of the basic applications, an appropriate career track will be embarked upon in the different professional disciplines. The major emphasis in this program is ""Support Staff"" training.
