DescriptionAbout this Learning Opportunity
Per Scholas' Information Technology Support course is offered on a full-time basis for 15 weeks from 9-5pm. This course teaches students professional-level knowledge and skills pertinent to operating systems (Windows, MacOS and Linux); computer hardware installation, maintenance and troubleshooting; managing laptops and peripherals; networking essentials, including advanced router and wire /wireless Local Area Network configuration, monitoring, testing and troubleshooting; remote computing (including virtual devices); routers, firewalls and security (encryption, backups, recovery); Windows Server/Active Directory implementation; managing mobile devices; project management, including Information Technology Infrastructure Library fundamentals; database management (including SQL fundamentals); and creation/presentation of network and active directory diagrams using Microsoft Visio Professional. Students engage in a hands-on curriculum which includes troubleshooting and installation of hardware, operating systems, and networks. Virtualization, mobile devices, and server configuration are also part of the curriculum. Students in Per Scholas' Information Technology Support training course have the opportunity to take the Comp TIA A+ and Network+ certification exams. By the end of the course, students are prepared for entry-level Information Technology occupations such as Desktop Support, Field Technician, and Network Technicians. This course is philanthropically supported and is therefore offered at no cost to students.
