DescriptionAbout this Learning Opportunity

A Certified Billing and Coding Specialist's main focus is on converting a medical procedure, diagnosis, or symptom into specific codes for submitting a claim for reimbursement. As a CBCS, you may perform some or all of the following tasks: Accurately locate documentation in the patient record to support coding and billing process, accurately assign codes for diagnoses and procedures. Submit claims for reimbursement based on payer policies and procedures. Coach providers on the best documentation practices to support quality coding and optimal reimbursement. Answering phones, processing patient information, accurately entering patient, financial information to ensure timely payments, billing and coding for insurance purposes, communicating with patients, general office duties. Course includes preparation for Certified EHR certification in addition to CBCS. This course does not prepare for EHR certification.
