SPC, or statistical process control, is a statistically-based family of tools used to monitor, control, and improve processes. The course includes the collecting and analysis of data for statistical distributions, and control charts for variables and attributes. Major topics are: SPC and the total quality system Difference between data reporting and SPC reporting SPC compliance with customer and ISO 9000 requirements Control charts and control limits Out of control occurrences Troubleshooting using SPC SPC and process capability The implementation and management issues associated with SPC Upon completion of this course, participants will have a solid understanding of variation and the statistics upon which control charts are based. They will learn variation in manufacturing processes including patterns and measures of variation. They will be able to monitor and control variation with variable and control charts. Participants will also understand how to use statistical process control in their jobs.
