The Patient Care Technician is a multi-faceted skills training to prepare students to function in the traditional nurse aid role in nursing centers, hospitals, and home care agencies. This comprehensive program will focus on training Certified Nursing Aids for Patient Care, Phlebotomy and Electrocardiogram Technicians, with emphasis on infection control procedures, quality assurance, medical law and ethics as well as advanced anatomy and physiology and other special testing procedures. The Patient Care Technician will be ready to work in a Hospital Care Facility, doctor's office and skilled Nursing/Rehabilitation Centers upon graduation of the program. Satisfactory academy progress is measure in non-degree credit hours. Students must complete 34 credit hours to graduate. Student will be able to challenge the national certification examination for Certified Patient Care Technician, Certified Phlebotomy Technician and Certified Electrocardiogram Technician.
