This course provides an overview of lean tools that provide a systematic approach to identifying and eliminating waste through continuous improvement. The tools are divided into five areas: analyze, organize, prepare, establish and involve. The course presents the following specific lean tools: takt time; value stream mapping; facility layout; 5S system; visual workplace; standard work; set-up reduction; total productive maintenance; mistake-proofing; pull/kanban systems; cellular manufacturing; and kaizen.

Upon completion of this course participants will have learned about lean operation and the benefits it provides; identify waste activities; understand major lean manufacturing tools and their application in their manufacturing operations.
