DescriptionAbout this Learning Opportunity

This is a two-day course. The first day will provide caregivers with the understanding of Pediatric growth and Development focusing on the toddler 1-3 years of age. It will also include health promotion and disease prevention interventions that will positively affect the well-being of children and their families. The goal of pediatric primary care is to achieve physical, emotional and developmental health for all children. They will instructed about immunization, proper nutrition and safety counseling. They will also be given instructions on pediatric care techniques: nursing child with fever, proper approach of administering medications to children and their considerations. They will be taught accident prevention, poisoning prevention, communicable disease prevention, child abuse and neglect will also be discussed. They will be taught how to take care of the sick child. The second day will be geared to Basic Life Support certification in accordance to the curriculum of the American Heart association. Upon completion, they will receive their Basic Life Support certification and care of the toddler which will lead them to employment in toddler care at home setting, daycare and hospital.
