The Certified Nurse Aide plays a vital role in Long Term Care facilities. They are necessary members of the healthcare team and extensions of the Registered and Practical Nurses in these facilities. Their duties and responsibilities allow the professional staff to engage in technical procedures while ensuring the needs of the residents are being safely and adequately met. The Universal Training Institute's Certified Nurse Aide program teaches students how to take and record vital signs and perform activities of daily living which includes; feeding, bathing, shaving, dressing, transfers and lifting of residents in nursing homes, assisted living and variety of other long term care settings. The program incorporates therapeutic communication when dealing with issues of death and dying with residents and their families. The program is geared to individuals from all walks of life who desire to enter the healthcare profession on an entry level. Certified Nurse Aide's ( CNA's ) feel more comfortable providing care in a controlled environment under the direct supervision of professional staff. This program will graduate students in less than one month from beginning to end.
