DescriptionAbout this Learning Opportunity

The Isles YouthBuild offers at-risk youth ages 16-24 occupational and vocational training leading to an industry recognized certificate in the construction trades. Students receive both classroom training and hands-on construction experience building low income housing in Trenton and performing construction related community service projects. Following the National Association of Home Builders, Home Building Institute, Pre-Apprenticeships Certificate Training PACT) curriculum, students earn entry level certifications in the build trade such as Carpentry, Electrical, Plumbing and Landscaping. While working toward their PACT, student receive job readiness and job preparedness training along with Like skills training to prepare them to enter the work force and retain employment. In addition, students who are enrolled in traditional high school can receive classroom credits and those who are not can work towards obtaining a high school equivalency (HSE) diploma. All training is supplemented with a full complement of case management services extending a full year beyond certificate completion. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday 8am until 4pm.
